The Index now stands at 134.1 (1985=100), up from 129.2 in April. The Conference Board's consumer confidence index rose to 131.6 this month from 126.5 in December. Economists polled by Dow Jones expected consumer confidence to rise to 128. The Consumer Confidence Board reported the Index was 135.7 in July 2019. That's higher than the June level of 124.3. June's index was its lowest level since September 2017. Both are better than the pre-recession high of 111.9 reached in July 2007. And both are lower than the 137.9 recorded in October 2018.
